    SEEKING

    Equity actors, dancers and singers for roles in The Barnstormers Theatre’s 2026 Season. The Barnstormers Theatre encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, ages, and abilities, to audition. We are looking for a diverse company for the 2026 Season. 

    As written, characters are listed as binary, however we encourage actors of all genders to audition for roles they feel suited for. 
    No roles will have understudies. 

    PREPARATION

    Please prepare 1 or 2 brief monologues or, a monologue and 16-32 bars of a song, appropriate for the season. No more than 3 minutes total. An accompanist will be provided.

    If you would prefer, you are welcome to prepare something from one of our season’s plays or musicals in place of a monologue and / or song. 

    Bring your headshot and resume stapled together and a notebook or binder with sheet music in the correct key.

The Barnstormers Theatre is seeking individuals for employment for our five show 2026 summer season and accompanying events celebrating our 96th year.

  • Dates: June 8, 2026 – August 30, 2026
    Compensation: $825/week (W-2), shared furnished housing and travel stipend provided

    The Barnstormers Theatre seeks a Technical Director for its summer season in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Technical Director oversees all scenic construction, installation, and strike for five mainstage productions, leads the technical staff, and ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

    Responsibilities & Requirements:

    • Draft technical build drawings from scenic designs and production discussions

    • Collaborate with the Scenic Designer, Production Manager, and Artistic Director to ensure buildability and budget compliance

    • Supervise scenic construction, installation, maintenance, and strike

    • Coordinate purchasing and delivery of materials

    • Communicate scenic needs with Stage Management during rehearsals

    • Provide rehearsal scenic items as needed

    • Maintain and inventory scenic stock (platforms, flats, etc.)

    • Lead the technical staff and manage load-ins and strikes

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

    • Strong carpentry and fabrication skills; proficient with hand and power tools

    • Self-motivated team player with strong leadership skills

    • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous technical direction experience

    • Crew leadership and budgeting experience

    • Foam carving and tool maintenance skills

    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between locations

    • Commitment to a positive and collaborative work environment

    The Barnstormers Theatre is seeking Carpenters for our summer season in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. Each summer, The Barnstormers produces five mainstage productions and additional events. Carpenters support all scenic construction, installation, maintenance, and strike, working from technical drawings under the direction of the Technical Director.

    Responsibilities & Requirements:

    • Assist in scenic construction from technical and construction drawings

    • Participate in load-in and strike of the performance spac

    • Modify and adapt stock scenery to meet production needs

    • Maintain and inventory platforms, flats, and other scenic stock

    • Complete assigned work on schedule and to a high standard

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace

    • Strong ability to read and interpret scaled drawings

    • Proficiency with hand and power tools and safe construction practices

    • Self-motivated, reliable, and a strong team player

    • Able to lift up to 75 lbs

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous scenic carpentry experience

    • Foam carving

    • Tool maintenance

    • Experience collaborating as part of a build crew

    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between shop, rehearsal, and performance locations

  • Dates: 06/08/26 - 08/30/26

    Compensation: $550 per week(W2), provided furnished housing

    The Barnstormers Theatre is seeking a Properties Manager for five productions during our summer season. Each summer, The Barnstormers produces five mainstage shows and additional events in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Properties Manager works closely with the Scenic Designer and Technical Director to oversee all scenic property needs for the season, including construction, installation, documentation, and day-to-day support of all productions, while leading the properties team.

    Responsibilities & Requirements:

    • Interpret scripts, scenic designs, and production conversations to create and source all required properties, including hand props, furniture, set dressing, and consumables

    • Construct, modify, and adapt stock items to meet the needs of each production

    • Communicate regularly with Stage Management regarding rehearsal and performance prop needs

    • Pull, prepare, and provide rehearsal props as required

    • Assist with load-in and load-out of rehearsal halls and performance spaces

    • Maintain, inventory, and organize properties stock and paperwork

    • Lead and support the properties team while completing assigned work on schedule and to a high standard

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace

    • Strong proficiency with hand and power tools, safe construction practices, and fabrication techniques

    • Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to prioritize multiple deadlines

    • Able to lift up to 75 lbs

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with carpentry, painting, and distressing techniques

    • Foam carving

    • Machine and hand stitching; upholstery

    • Electrical wiring of properties

    • Creation of graphics and paper props

    • Tool maintenance

    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between shop, rehearsal, and performance locations

    Compensation: $550 per week

    The Barnstormers Theatre is seeking a Wardrobe Technician for our 2025 summer season. Each summer, The Barnstormers produces five mainstage productions and additional events in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Wardrobe Technician supports the Costume Shop Manager by maintaining costumes throughout the run of each production and ensuring smooth backstage operations during performances.

    Responsibilities & Requirements:

    • Attend all performances during the five-show summer season

    • Assist with backstage costume changes during performances

    • Maintain and organize costumes, dressing rooms, and wardrobe areas

    • Perform daily show laundry and costume upkeep

    • Assist in the costume shop with stitching, repairs, and alterations of costume stock as needed

    • Collaborate closely with the Costume Shop Manager and production team

    • Self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute required duties in a fast-paced environment

    • Strong background in theatrical costumes and backstage wardrobe operations

    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Dates: 6/8/26 - 8/30/26

    Compensation: $550/week(W2), Shared furnished housing included, travel stipend


    The Barnstormers Theatre is seeking individuals for employment as the Sound Supervisor/A1 for our 2023 summer season. Each summer The Barnstormers Theatre produces 5 mainstage shows and other events during our summer season. The Sound Supervisor handles running the sound console for shows while supporting all shows, as well as working with the Production Manager on scheduling of electrics needs, as well as maintaining a clean and organized audio area. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who can prioritize and execute required duties. Qualified applicants should have a strong background in reading and implementing sound plots, maintenance of sound stock, and strong leadership skills. Applicants should be highly motivated, able to lift up to 75lbs, and ready to work in a fun and exciting environment in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. 


    Responsibilities & Requirements:


    • Great team player

    • Coordinate with the Technical Director and Production Manager to assess, plan, and execute season sound needs.

    • Planning, scheduling, and estimating the labor needs for each show.

    • Reading sound plots, working in coordination with the designers to budget purchases and rentals. 

    • Work with the Production Manager to stay within budget as determined by PM and Artistic Director

    • Hang, cable, and focus speaker plots for each of the 5 shows of the season.

    • Complete assigned work in a timely manner, with a high level of quality.

    • Maintain a clean and safe work space.

    • Must be comfortable with ladders, heights, and best theatrical safety practices.

    • Per current AEA guidelines due to the covid-19 pandemic, proof of covid-19 vaccination will be required

    Preferred Qualifications:


    • Experience working on theatrical productions

    • Experience with programming and operation of Behringer sound consoles, Theater Mix, and QLab

    • Experience in the following preferred:

      • Familiarity with Line-By Line Mixing

      • Familiarity with Vectorworks

      • Leadership of a crew of a variety of experience levels

      • Decision making in high stress, fast paced situations

  • Scenic Charge / Scenic Painter:

    6/8/2026 - 8/30/2026
    Compensation: $700 per week 

    The Barnstormers Theatre is seeking a Scenic Charge / Scenic Painter for our 2026 summer season. Each summer, The Barnstormers Theatre produces five mainstage productions and additional special events in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Scenic Charge is responsible for executing all scenic painting and treatments for the season, working closely with the Production Manager and scenic designers in a fast-paced summer stock environment.

    Responsibilities & Requirements:

    • Paint and treat all scenery, flooring, and scenic elements for all productions; most scenery must be fully painted prior to installation during changeovers

    • Accurately color match and mix paint to designer renderings and specifications

    • Execute basic scenic paint techniques, including wood grain, marble, tile, and cobblestone treatments
      Work a minimum of three overnight paint calls per production to complete stage floors and address tech notes

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Paint Barn

    • Comfortable working on ladders up to 12’, extension ladders, and multi-position (Little Giant–style) ladders

    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs

    • Track and stay within the seasonal paint budget

    • Communicate proactively with the Production Manager regarding purchasing and material needs

    • Attend production meetings and other meetings as required

    • Other duties as assigned

  • Paid production Apprenticeship Opportunities 

    PAY: $400/week + furnished housing, travel stipend, college credit available upon request

    Dates: June 8, 2026 - August 30, 2026 

    ABOUT THE PROGRAM: 

    Each summer The Barnstormers produces 5 mainstage shows and other live events. Apprentices iwill be assigned to an area of interest in costume, properties, carpentry, paints, electrics, or sound where they will learn the best practice in their field from qualified professional production staff. They will assist their respective department heads, and work on a variety of projects and assignments. They will also act as run crew, dressers, light board operator, and sound board operator or A2. Current college students and early career professionals willing to learn while working in a fast-paced historic summer theatre are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be highly motivated and able to lift up to 50lbs. All contracts include salary and furnished shared housing. College credit in addition to weekly pay is possible.
