COMMUNITY CLASSES & EVENTS
Thank you for being a valued part of our incredible Barnstormer Theatre community!
Check out these opportunities for Summer 2026!
Thanks to a generous grant from the Yeoman’s Fund for the Arts, We are delighted to announce that The Barnstormers Drama Book Club and Script Circle are back this summer!
DRAMA BOOK CLUB
Whether you’re a drama buff or have never set foot in a theater, the Drama Book Club is a whole new way to experience a play with members of The Barnstormers Theatre! Join long-time Barnstormer actor, Doug Shapiro, as he leads you and members of the community, plus other surprise guests, in reading a play aloud together. Scripts will be provided in advance for those who might like to take a look prior to the club meeting, but preparation is not necessary! Sessions will feature radio dramas (June 28 & July 13), a musical (August 10), and “Hail Poetry!” (August 24). No acting or theater experience required—we're just here to have a good time!
New in 2026!
A collaboration between Drama Book Club and Script Circle!
The drafts of the Script Circle plays will be read by the Drama Book Club participants so the authors can hear what their words sound like before submitting their final drafts! Tentative date: Monday, August 3rd
Write the Story Only You Can Tell: Playwriting Workshop
Playwriting for Everyone is a hands-on, community-centered workshop designed for all experience levels. Led by a professional playwright and director Dori A. Robinson, this class will guide participants through the basics of writing for the stage—with plenty of encouragement and creativity along the way.
Sessions Include:
Analyzing scenes from past Barnstormers productions (comedies, dramas, mysteries, and more)
Generative writing prompts to help you explore various styles and genres
Supportive, writer-focused feedback from peers
Time to develop short scenes, monologues, and character-driven dialogue
Our time together will culminate in a shared, celebratory staged reading on the Barnstormers stage on August 9. Invite your friends and family to hear your works performed aloud on stage!
