2020 Season Update from The Barnstormers Theatre

We are so sorry to announce that we have made the very tough—but sadly necessary—decision to suspend our 2020 core summer season in this, our 90th year. Our priority is the safety of all of you—our Barnstormers family of audience, actors, and awesome friends.

And…we can’t let 2020 go by without a celebration of the spirit that has sustained us through all these years. We are not going to go to completely dark during this time. In fact, we are now in the midst of planning a few options for safe—and fun–season alternatives, including a spree of online Anniversary Love Letters to The Barnstormers. We hope you will join us—stay tuned for details!

As you know, ticket sales account for just under half of our sustaining revenue. Unfortunately, with no official 2020 summer season, we will not have the funding needed to sustain us past this year.  We are nervous, but we are ever hopeful and optimistic that we will be able to navigate this unprecedented time—with your help.

If you have already bought tickets for the 2020 season, we offer you three options. We ask that you consider donating your ticket purchase to help us keep afloat through this crisis. Or, you can choose to use your purchase as a “gift certificate” for our official 2021 season. Or, if need be, we will refund your ticket price. And, if you haven’t yet bought a ticket, perhaps you would be willing to donate what would be the cost of a ticket to help us out. Thank you for any consideration.

We love you all—and we thank you—for your ongoing care and support of our dear theatre.  We will miss seeing you but perhaps as a result of our alternative programming, our paths may yet cross this summer, either on-line or out-of-doors. And, we hope to come back ever stronger in 2021.

Terms of Sale

Ticket Availability
Tickets are only available when the Box Office opens, though you may send in your orders by mail or e-mail. They will be processed in the order in which they are received. Because we most often play to a full house, we recommend booking promptly so you may get the seats of your choice. Online ticket sales will begin March 17th, 2019.
No Refunds Policy/Cash Exchange Fee
We have a NO REFUNDS policy, however exchanges may be made at the cost of $2 per ticket, which must be paid in cash at the Box Office when picking up your tickets.
If you are unable to use your tickets for a given play, may we suggest treating a friend to an evening at the theatre? You may also donate tickets back to the theatre; if we can resell them, a receipt for your contribution will be sent to you for IRS purposes. We thank you for your cooperation

Fans of The Barnstormers

Such a great show (Spamalot), with incredibly professional performances from the entire cast. I can’t wait to go to my next Barnstormers’ show!

Christopher Twomey

An evening at the Barnstormers theatre is a quintessential summer event. Set in a tiny and beautiful town, it presents live entertainment of the highest quality. I look forward to attending every year.

Peter Capano

The Barnstormers and Tamworth share a special place in my heart. My parents took my sister and I here every summer to get away from DC. More importantly, to watch my grandad, Dan Rubinate, perform at the Barnstormers. As a young kid, plays are a tough thing. They don’t hold the allure of running around in the creek like a crazy person, they aren’t video games (new back then), and they require you to sit still for a long time and be silent. Grandad however, made that damn easy. I will never forget him as Toad of Toad Hall, or any of the other wonderful performances by the very talented actors at the Barnstormers. I am very grateful to have them a part of my childhood, and hope they bring that magic to a bunch of other rambunctious young kids for many years to come.

Seated at tables with fresh flowers and linens, enjoy the sunset across a lovely field in this unique and historic building.

A scrumptious, seasonally-driven three-course meal, made with local ingredients, includes a salad, a main course and a dessert, and will be prepared by Dale Bragdon Catering. Please feel free to Bring-Your-Own wine or beer.

Supper is served at a convenient pre-curtain time of 6pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.  Arrive up to one half-hour early to relax before supper is served.

We offer a Supper Club/Ticket Package, for those who wish to purchase all at once, or an Add-On Meal option, for those who have already purchased their theatre tickets.

Don’t miss out on this wonderfully relaxing experience before the show! For details and to make a reservation, please call the Barnstormers Box Office at 603-323-8500.*

Highly recommend not only The Barnstormers Theatre but also the experience of local dining before the show. Nothing like a relaxing dinner at Highland House in the coopers shed before the show. Makes for a wonderful evening.
