Properties Manager

Job Dates: 06/12/23 – 09/03/23

Pay: $500 per week(W2), provided furnished housing, and travel

The Barnstormers Theatre is seeking individuals for employment as a Properties Manager for five shows this summer: 

-NUNSENSE- Rehearsals begin June 19th, show opens June 29th

-ARSENIC AND OLD LACE- Rehearsals begin July 3rd, show opens July 13th

-THE STRANGER- Rehearsals begin July 17th, show opens July 27th

-FULLY COMMITTED- Rehearsal begin July 31st, show opens August 10th

-BASKERVILLE- Rehearsal begin August 14th, show opens August 24th

The Properties Manager works with the Technical Director to handle all scenic property needs, property installation, and support for all shows while maintaining appropriate paperwork and leading the properties team. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who can prioritize and execute required duties. Qualified applicants should have a strong background in property construction with proficiency in hand and power tools, safe construction techniques, and fabrication. Applicants should be highly motivated, able to lift up to 75lbs, and ready to work in a fun and exciting environment in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. All contracts include salary and furnished shared housing. Company Members are required to arrive fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus. Masks are encouraged in work spaces and testing may be scheduled if needed. Hand sanitization stations will be plentiful, social distancing, when possible, is requested.

-Interpret the script/set design/production conversations in order to create properties needed for shows, including hand props, furniture, set dressing, perishables, etc.

-Communicate with Stage Management about the props needs during the rehearsal process.

-Pull and provide rehearsal items as necessary.

-Assist load in and load out of rehearsal halls and performance spaces

-Modify stock items to suit the needs of a particular show.

-Maintain and inventory properties stock.

-Complete assigned work in a timely manner, with a high level of quality.

-Maintain a clean and safe work space.

-Per current AEA guidelines due to the covid-19 pandemic, proof of covid-19 vaccination will be required. All company members will be tested weekly by the Covid Safety Manager, at no cost to staff.

-Previous experience in the following areas preferred:


-Painting and distressing techniques

-Foam Carving

-Machine and hand stitching


-Electrical wiring of properties

-Creation of graphics and paper properties

-Tool maintenance

-Valid Drivers license

-Valid Drivers license

-Ability to travel between performance, shop and rehearsal locations

-Ability to maintain a positive work environment by communicating and behaving in a positive manner with all artists and staff from a variety of experience levels and backgrounds.
